HAIGH-FARR ANTENNA SUPPORTS BLUE GHOST LUNAR MISSION

06.18.25

Haigh-Farr, a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of antennas for aerospace applications, supplied the X-Band antenna used on Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lunar mission. The antenna supported the mission’s communications systems, enabling rapid “downlink of high-definition imagery and video, as well as transmission of payload science data back to Earth”, according to Blue Ghost Mission 1: Live Updates.

The Blue Ghost mission is a significant step toward establishing a sustainable presence on the Moon. According to Firefly’s website, “Firefly’s Blue Ghost Mission 1, named Ghost Riders in the Sky, launched on January 15 and performed the first fully successful commercial Moon landing on March 2. Blue Ghost then completed more than 14 days of surface operations (346 hours of daylight) and just over 5 hours of operations into the lunar night. This achievement marks the longest commercial operations on the Moon to date.”

“We are incredibly proud to have contributed to this groundbreaking mission,” said Norene Farr, CEO of Haigh-Farr. “Our X-Band antenna was engineered to deliver reliable communications under extreme conditions, and we were thrilled to see our antenna performing on the Moon.”

Haigh-Farr continues to support aerospace missions with rugged, high-performance antenna solutions designed for challenging environments, including lunar and deep space exploration.
